If you’re a “Foodie.” like me… well then, I highly recommend an experience that is eye candy for your eyes, ears and stomach! Local, mainly organic, produce is loving displayed in bright colors on tables that are set up in a ring around a small courtyard.
Amid all this sumptuous bounty is a vendor who sells Thai food and Nikki’s Pad Thai is my personal favorite. This all happens on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Pukalani Stables, Parker Ranch (67-139 Pukilani rd. Waimea. As I enjoy my delicious Pad Thai, I sit at one of the picnic tables and listen to local artists perform and catch up on news with friends, “Talk Story.”
Shopping for my fresh produce for the week, and knowing that I am supporting the local community makes it even better..don’t forget about dessert! There are home-made baked goods as well as artists who sell jewelry, stained glass and soap infused with fragrances only found here in Hawaii. Be sure to explore the Paniola Museum while at the market. Photos depict how the Waimea Cowboys, Paniola, lived and worked in this area.
I hope to see you there on Saturday, as I am for sure addicted to Nikki’s perfect co-mingling balance of spices in her authentic array of Thai dishes. Try any of these: Four different types of Thai curry entrees, summer rolls, green papaya salad. Mmmmm, my mouth is watering! Several people I have told to try the Thai food have become regulars at her booth.

There is an adjoining vendor, “Liquid Life.” Here, I enjoy washing down the Thai food with fresh, healthy, local-pressed juices. If you miss Saturday’s Farmer’s Market you can swing by the “Liquid Life” store/ Cafe in Waimea next to the KTA Food Market. It is worth your time.
Here are 3 of my favorite juices:
1) Red Roots- beets, carrots, celery and pineapple
2) Orange Oasis- carrots, orange, pineapple, parsley and cucumber
3) Purple Passion- passion flower, lilikoi, hibiscus, rose, jasmine, lemongrass and honey, yummy!
Enjoy the beautiful aloha spirit, live music and indulge your senses!
“Just for today, I will not worry. Worry is like a rocking chair…it keeps rocking back and forth, but gets you nowhere! Just for today, I will let go of petty thoughts and be joyful. Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings, Just for today, I will be consciously aware of every living thing.” My smile will make others happy and I will embrace life’s bounties! Looking forward in hearing from you,
